<![CDATA[Kaj Pindal tribute! looking for submissions!]]>Thu, 22 Aug 2019 14:09:01 GMThttp://frogfeetproductions.com/sketchblog/kaj-pindal-tribute-looking-for-submissionsHi people out there and animation colleagues. as you may or may not know, wonderful animator Kaj Pindal passed away this summer. He was a prolific artist, wonderful story teller and very generous with his time. Kaj taught at my alma matter, Sheridan College for a number of years as well as created numerous animations for the NFB, created the tv series Peep in teh Big Wide World, made many political / satirical cartoons and comics during his early career as well. Basically he did a lot and kept creating and teaching until very recently.
My former Sheridan instructor Ellen Besen and he were colleagues and good friends as well and we decided to put together a little package of drawings and sketches and well wishes from friends and colleagues in the animation community to help cheer hi up when he was ill this past spring . We thought it would give him a boost to know all these people were thinking about him. Unfortunately as we were planning this he passed away. So now we are transforming that little idea into a little simple tribute video to be screened at the Ottawa International Animation Festival 2019.

I have put the call out in social media back in july and early august but thought i should also post it here on my site. The Deadline is September 2nd.

Help us make a little tribute to Kaj Pindal to screen at OIAF 2019! Send me sketches or little looping animations (Just 8- 12 frames long, looping@ 24fps) and I will put it all together and together we can celebrate his memory. Info in jpeg below. thanks! cheers!

I think it's totally appropriate i post this old storyboard from 2011 from a Popsicle campaign. Storyboard by Bryce Hallett, unfortunately i am not sure who the original designer was for this piece. Still I could go for a frozen treat right about now.

<![CDATA[Amazing Hand DRawn FX course!]]>Mon, 05 Mar 2018 01:34:17 GMThttp://frogfeetproductions.com/sketchblog/amazing-hand-drawn-fx-courseHey everyone. I am teaching a new course at TAIS in Toronto starting March 6th and each Tuesday for the next 4 weeks from 6:30pm to 9:30pm all about hand drawn special effects. Its going to be a fun class. We'll look at how to break natural elements like fire, water, smoke etc into pleasing designs and flowing animations. How to create effective loops and a bunch more. Hopefully by the end, regardless of your preferred animation medium you 'l have the skills or at least the basic understandings to create hand drawn fx you can add into you films or enhance your projects. more info at www.tais.ca the link is posted here:

<![CDATA[The Story or my first animation job]]>Mon, 05 Mar 2018 01:22:26 GMThttp://frogfeetproductions.com/sketchblog/the-story-or-my-first-animation-jobHey everyone. I was thrilled to be asked to tell a tale at AnimaticT.O. last december of being a freelance animator. SO i chose to tell the tale of my first job after college and my foray into freelance animation. IT's me jsut talking off the cuff so it's not polished or rehearsed and i mumble too much. ha ha but i am really happy with how it turned out. Shout out to Grayden Laing who did a great job filming it. I hope you enjoy it as much as i did telling it! cheers! -Bryce

<![CDATA[Latest things and documentary adventures]]>Wed, 06 Apr 2016 15:44:35 GMThttp://frogfeetproductions.com/sketchblog/latest-things-and-documentary-adventuresI've been pretty busy so far in 2016, animating and storyboarding commercials and also creating some animations and maps for a couple of documentaries. One about Cuba and one that takes place in Africa. Both are recently completed and will screen soon in Europe and Canada respectively. I can't show any animation just yet but in the meantime here are a couple of screen shots for the doc that takes place in Africa which you can learn more about here:
It was a lot of fun working with the director to come up with the style. i am really happy with how it all turned out.

<![CDATA[2015 Holiday Greetings ( and others!)]]>Mon, 04 Jan 2016 16:07:57 GMThttp://frogfeetproductions.com/sketchblog/2015-holiday-greetings-and-others Some times, clients ask me to do animated gifs or illustrations or little animated videos for them to send out as holiday greetings. Sadly they never ask for them in August so it's always a big rush in November/December to get them finished in time. Still, despite the tight deadlines and modest budgets i think they turned out half decent. :) Also here's a link for the video of CSMLS holiday greeting. It was fun to do because even though it's a simple character it was full animation. cheers and Happy New Year! (From left to right: Canadian Society for Medical Laboratory Science(CSMLS) , Flashframe Digital, Storieboards Inc.
